Newbie Review by Greg Macintosh Newbie Product Reviewer:
A strange offering from Apple, the Z09R. Not strange in looks of course, the looks are as attractive as ever, but the spec of the machine is a little hard to figure out. We start with the excellent G4 processor, this one rated at 1.25Ghz and a healthy amount of RAM; 512MB in total. Both these items can be upgraded as the motherboard will accept a second processor and a maximum of 2.7GB of SDRAM. There is also a good video card, video out sockets, CDR/DVD drive and firewire ports. All this points to the machine being capable of completing some serious tasks. So why bundle it with an 80GB hard drive? Looking at the rest of the machine the 80GB just seems a little to small, there are expansion bays for second drives, but why make that almost essential to get the best from the machine? A unusual mismatch of hardware from Apple.
